I'm looking for everyday non-plastic dinnerware that is lead- and cadmium- and whatever-else-free, won't chip or break easily (young kids in the home), is light and easy to store (stacks easily taking up little space, not a weird or bulky shape), microwave and dishwasher safe (and oven if possible), and won't break the bank. Am I asking for the impossible?
I have a nice Crate & Barrel set we got for our wedding, but our everyday dinnerware is Ikea. They've broken and have chips, and they are quite heavy. I think I read that Ikea is lead-free now, but these are ten years old. Want to replace these!
My mom loves her Corelle, and I love how durable, stackable, and light they are, but I've heard bad reviews of the pieces made more recently now that they no longer are owned by Corning (mostly about breakage/shattering). I don't have the patience to go thrift shop shopping for old pieces.
Any other suggestions? I've bought some super cheap pieces from Crate & Barrel that have quickly chipped. I can't find info on lead on their website anyway.
I'm at a loss - help!
