Today's NY Times reports that Masa Takayama will be closing down the Beverly Hills branch of Ginza Sushi-Ko and opening a new restaurant with the same name in the currently under construction AOL Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle. This adds to the previous announcements of French Laundry NYC and a Jean Georges steakhouse also occupying the space. The article also reports that lunch will be around $300, and dinner ranging from $400-500 (more expensive than the current Bevery Hills branch).
While I think the migration of great chefs like Masa Takayama and Thomas Keller to NYC is a great thing, I'm not so sure I'm ready to lay down that much money per person on one meal (ie Alain Ducasse).
But exciting news indeed!
