Excellent Veg. Indian in North NJ

I recently have had lunch several times at Shivam Indian Cuisine, 156 Parsippany Rd in Parsippany. An unpretentious Southern Indian place in a rather anonymous plaza, they offer a $7.99 lunch buffet that is excellent. The carefully prepared and well seasoned food on the buffet has varied on each visit and includes a dish or two that I have never had before (I eat Indian food often). For instance, on my last visit they were offering a golden grain dish (the name escapes me, but it is somewhat between a polenta and couscous) which had a wonderful nutty flavor laced with chili and cilantro. The staff circulates around offering fresh breads, samosas, etc. Most of the items (chutneys, poppadums, etc.) give the impression of being homemade. Many asian customers. Another very good South Indian place, Chand Palace, is nearby but, at least as far as the lunch buffet goes, the newcommer is even better.
