Excellent Thai in les-- Ama ya

bussy26 | Dec 5, 200601:21 AM     19

I am usually a Sripraphai (no good thai in manhattan) snob. But I have been converted. Tried this small place in the lower east side (East 4th between A & B)Ama ya and I was pleasantly surprised. Really great dishes, great service and prices and the best part, no wait at all.

We had an amazing meal with 3 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 drinks with everything coming to ~ $55. The charred beef salad bests Sripraphai's and Roti Canai( I know not Thai) were excellent. Surprisingly, the place was relatively empty both times I went. Also, I think the same chef owns Hurapan (which just opened in the west village).

The joint is also known as Ma*ya.
