Excellent Lunch at Carbon - Peruvian Chicken and Grille

mscoffee1 | Feb 19, 2012 03:02 PM

This is my second visit to Carbon. Today I had the Anticucho - grilled marinated beef hearts.
- wonderful - it was served rare with a little lettuce, nicely marinated onions and some ok potatoes with good sauce. I also had an empanada - a touch of sweet but great - both crust and filling.

On my other visit I had the Rotisserie Chicken which was cooked better (not overcooked ) than any other rotisserie chicken I have had at any of the South American style places (many of which I like). Also better than many other chickens I have had anywhere. The chicken was delicious as was the hot (it was) sauce. There were three sauces to choose from and next time I will try them all. The rice and beans were just great.

I read that Carbon was owned by the same people who own La Canela. It is clear that someone can cook here. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed these two meals. Oh and the staff was great. Price for each meal was about $10.
