Last night, I was out late with friends. Hunger struck. At first, we drunkenly thought we might go to Benny's Burritos, but it was full. We then crossed the street and went to Le Zoccole. We were immediately seated outside. The hostess was informed that one of our party would just have a dessert, one would have an appetizer, and two would be eating meals. She said that was fine and could not have been more gracious.
I couldn't persuade anyone to go in for the Venetian tasting menu, so I ordered some salami and a special of spaghetti with bottarga (which I think was 13 dollars.) My friend got a dozen oysters (with a choice between Kumamoto and Malpeque) - pricing was 10 dollars for 6 oysters or 10 dollars for 12 clams. She also ordered a fried risotto appetizer special - which was phenomenal, at once light and creamy and crispy and - just great, in a light tomato sauce. Another person at the table ordered the mussel appetizer, which was the size of an entree and loaded with yummy nuggets of roasted garlic. The dessert was an outstanding ricotta cheesecake with not-too-sweet strawberries and a caramelized top like creme brulee. My spaghetti was delicious, if bottarga-light. Drinks were some lovely crisp glasses of Prosecco.
Since this restaurant is in the old Pisces restaurant, they have ample seating and nice outdoor space. I found the service to be excellent, the food very good and the prices very reasonable. I certainly recommend it highly.
