I want to thank the chowhounds who pointed us to Piccolo Nido, we had a wonderful meal.
The gf and I shared plates of the famed Calamari Alla Griglia, which is grilled squid on a bed of mixed salad greens, and Bruschetta topped with tomatoes and basil. I've eaten a lot of deep fried calamari but I've never had it grilled. It was excellent.
For entrees, the gf had Linguine Ai Frutti Di Mare which was good but nothing special although the scallops were very fresh tasting. I had Spaghetti Amatriciana. Now I'm half Italian and grew up in Brooklyn and this dish reminded me of the old days. The sauce was very tomatoey and the fresh pasta was good and thick. Normally I'm not a fan of fresh pasta, it just doesn't stand up well with most of the sauces that I like, but it worked very well in this dish.
Of course we had to have 2 bottles of Chianti to wash this all down with.
For dessert, we both had a delicious Tiramisu which was light and satisfying after a big meal.
