I adore chestnuts for the holidays in stuffings, cakes, soups, but completely dislike the roasting and peeling process. I cannot even bribe anyone to assist me. Scoped out a 15 oz. jar of "french roasted peeled chestnuts" at Williams Sonoma for $15. Found a great alternative in Chinatown. There were a few varieties of roasted peeled tasty amber-colored chestnuts in a foil bag that are designed for snacks. Tastes delicious with a nutty roasted flavor and excellent consistancy for soups and deserts. Price is a dream- 99 cents for just over 5 oz.
