Evening Standard London Restaurant Awards [from UK/Ireland]

I was reading about this during my 45 minute wait at the PO today. No lists are perfect but this is a bit more flawed than others - I wonder who the compiler(s) were.

From a personal POV putting Hereford Road in the local category and leaving it out of best British restaurant category seems wrong. It could and should have been in both.

The inclusion of Hix Oyster & Chop House in any category seems bizarre to me - totally predicated on hype from restaurant reviewers who should know a lot better. See also Cha Cha Moon and the wrestched Urban Turban

Acorn House opened in 2006 - how on earth can this be nominated for best new restaurant ? Ditto Scott's.

Mark Hix and Rowley Leigh are both nominated in Outstanding London Chef category which seems like a big smack in the mouth for people who have actually been manning the stoves in their restaurants (i.e. the other chefs on the list plus Tom Pemberton from HR).

I find the lack of any GR places a bit weird I think The Narrow (ok it was opened at start of '07) and The Devonshire could easily have slotted in there somewhere.

Finally, and most heinously of all since when has Tayyabs been an Indian restaurant ? The last time I looked it was Pakistani - a quick look at the website would have clarified that. Just shows you how much thought and research has gone into this list i.e. none. I'm surprised Jamie Oliver wasn't nominated somewhere.
