Europa Express -- Russian Grocery and Deli

Nancy Berry | Feb 25, 2006 02:55 PM

The post below about kasha reminded me that I wanted to post a note about Europa Express on Irving St. near Andronico's -- about a block from South Seas Seafood Village Restaurant.

I like this Russian grocery and deli much better than the one on Clement near the Legion of Honor. The sales people are much friendlier and helpful and the store is cleaner. The deli meats, sausages, smoked fish, fresh cheeses (like farmer's cheese,) and sour cream (lots of brands) looked really fresh and appetizing. I haven't tried the prepared salads, cabbage rolls, etc. but they were very tempting and nicely displayed. And this place has the largest selection of Russian and Czech beers that I've ever seen. The grocery section is very nice, with lots of interesting grains like kasha (lots of brands and different grinds,) millet, wheatberries, breakfast cereals, etc. Also, lots of rye breads, candies, and other items.

I like the store a lot. Here's the location and phone info:
