Restaurants & Bars

Finally got around last nite to trying Europa, a tiny restaurant on Shattuck, a block or two from University Ave. in Berkeley. We'd walked by it for ages but it either wasn't open or we'd just eaten, but a recommendation a few weeks ago pushed it to the top of our 'must try' list.

It serves Mediterranean food - middle eastern-y - kabobs, mezes, salads and more. Lots of fun drinks - like mint lemonada, pomegranate drinks, eclectic wine list and a few beers too. Lots of fresh veggies from their garden and most if not all the food is organic as well.

We had the sultan's meze plate with hummus, red pepper puree, baba ghanous, dolmas, grilled eggplant and falafals. And a salad of greens with goat cheese and candied peacans in a pomegranate dressing. It was all really fresh and delicious and the perfect warm summer evening dinner. Can't wait to go back.

Open Wed-Sunday and their sign said they do private parties/events for 10 or more on Mon-Tue and they do catering.

Definately a worthy stop in Berkeley.
