EUGENE: Hole in the Wall BBQ...

Nick | Sep 18, 200411:30 PM

Was down in Eugene and a friend and I went out to Chao Pra Ya for some Thai food. One of my favorite spots. Had the pork larb, beef salad (yum nuer), and red curry. All were good, though the beef salad is a little small. The pork larb, otoh, is quite large. Very good stuff. Hot really means hot here, so be warned.

Afterwards, my friend and I decided to get some dessert. Something with a sweet sauce, maybe. Okay, BBQ.

We'd been to Hole in the Wall a couple times before and gotten sandwiches. I remembered them as decent. They brag about their chili, too, which is also decent. This time, though, we got the ribs. The sides were all mediocre, but the ribs were definitely acceptable. I don't know if they're worth being called good, but they're acceptable. Expensive, though. They're not very meaty and it's $20 for a full rack. They have a nice bark and are quite tender. They could be smokier, too.

But they're still worth eating if you need a rib fix in Lane County. A world better than Tony Roma's.

Any other BBQ recs in Eugene?
