It looks like I will be spending a bit of time back where I grew up in Woodbridge, NJ. Now, I wasn't always a chowhound, and the town has been thoroughly yuppified since I lived there (says the guy who lives in Los Angeles, ha!). My mother is starting to break out of her shell and explore new kinds of food, so I'm taking it on myself to introduce her to various kinds of ethnic food.
The only thing is that I cannot deal with the traffic. I do not want to go south of the Raritan River if I can help it, nor north of Clark/Rahway, nor west of Edison. I know -- so picky! But I won't have much time off and I don't want to waste time in the car.
I have Thai taken care of -- mmmm, Mie Thai.
I know enough good Italian restaurants to sink Sicily.
We have Brazilian and Portuguese down pat.
What about Vietnamese? Korean? Cuban? Indian (Iselin or Edison, I suspect)? Mexican? Japanese, both sushi and non?
