The stars must have converged over my wife and I last night. Our meal at Sri was fantastic. Better than any we can remember in a long time and they managed to get the heat perfect on each dish as we requested. We started with som tum with sticky rice. I should have known that it was going to be good when they served the rice with the dish. Usually we have to ask for it when the som tum is served. The sauce was right on, spicy, sour, not too sweet, and delicious. We also did a chicken larb - came out warm and had a good amount of very crunchy toasted rice on it. The flavor, oh man, layered flavors and you could really taste the galangal at the end of most bites. My wife went with a main of woo sen and I did pad kee mao. Without a doubt the best pad kee mao I have had anywhere. Truly superb with a good amount of spiciness I had hoped for. My wife was not quite as enthusiastic about the woo sen but I think that was mostly because of a dietary restriction forcing her to avoid the items she really yearned for. We both finished our mains despite being quite full halfway through. You just couldn't stop.
Sri was not very crowded and it was early, I think played a role. Whatever it was, this was a standout meal we will not soon forget.
