A recent meal at Etete, the new Ethiopian on the 9th St., NW, was so exceptional that it seems a crime to eat at any other Ethiopian in town - except for my beloved Queen Makeda right across the street.
Ordered the "fastening food" - a vegetarian platter and added the whole fish for 2 bucks more. At least eight selections each fresh, vibrant, distinctively cooked and delicious. A few jalapenos are added into some for a nice spicy crunch. The fish had excellent flavor.
Also ordered the Goden Tibs - these are beef ribs that are meaty, lucious, juicy, perfectly pink inside, and with a bit of a spicy kick to let you know that you're not in Kansas anymore.
Also, Yebeg Alicha (lamb curry) - passable, but I wouldn't order this again because the alternatives seem so thrilling.
