Finding the newly opened, The Stationaery closed https://www.chowhound.com/post/carmel... , I walked over to the another newcomer, Etats-Unis, that has taken over Lafayette's space. I ordered the Quiche Lorraine. Priced at $14 on the menu, I was hoping for a slice of a larger tart. Nope, this was the small, individual size. While the crust was good, in the thinner and smaller format, the custard cannot really shine. Salad greens were good on this otherwise disappointing selection. However, when the bill came, I was happy to see that the price was only $12.
The chef-owner Soerke Peters was formerly executive chef at Carmel's Basil. If I'd remembered this at the time, I would have ordered a pasta dish.
