A couple of weeks ago on this board I reported a mediocre experience at Essex Seafood, which we had tried based on this board's raves after spending most of last summer visiting Woodman's on a weekly basis.
Today we returned to Essex Seafood and it was excellent. And the short wait (~10 min at sunday dinner peak) makes it the hands down winner of all the N. Shore clam/lobster places.
We tried the Clam Box last week and the fried clams, fries, and onion rings were superb, but a one-hour wait with a three-year-old in tow was highly taxing. And they don't serve boiled lobster.
