Espresso Gourmet Caffe (downtown Oakland)

Haven't seen anything here about the various small sandwich spots around city center, so I blindly tried one today, for their Greek sampler plate. A lot of the cafes in the area offer this sort of thing, surprisingly enough.

I was pretty disappointed. The dolmas were good, as were the salads, but the falafel and pita were horrible. Service was lackluster as well. A shame. Some of their side salad items (pasta salad, etc) looked good, but a place offering a Greek dish should do better than cold, biscuity falafel.

Anyone been to Big Apple Cafe next door (14th+Franklin)? Or the funky little deli on 15th+Webster? These are my next two "new place" targets, but I'd be happy to skip any place that is not worth it...
