Espoleta - Big Names, One to Watch

Ziggy41 | Dec 13, 201409:35 AM     2

The other day I was invited to the launch party of Espoleta a new tapas and wine joint in NoHo opened officially last night I believe. Yes, Mrs Z and I are moving up the NYC social scene in rapid pace.

Suenos fans can finally come out of their depression as Sue Torres is consulting here. I was told she'll be in the kitchen once or twice a week. Executive chef is Giuilio Adriani, pizza master of Percello which was located at the same spot. Both names mean Wishbone

Chef de cuisine, Francis Peabody, famous "American physician born November 24, 1881". Wait that makes no sense, googling some more... not finding much, but Ariel Lacayo, the manager who was once voted Best Maitre D in New York City says Francis is a Daniel, and Le Bernardin veteran

Since this was more of a party with mass produced food, we only got a small taste of what they have to offer. We munched on various Pintxos and tapas. Japanese squash, jamon, artichoke with manchego, various croquettes, Shishito peppers and more. My favorite was perhaps the Goat Empanadas with raisins and salsa verde.

Excellent Spanish wine here, too excellent perhaps for me to remember to note it down. One to watch
