End of an era: Nancy Lee no longer at Pig Heaven

kimijye | Sep 24, 201812:31 PM     3

My family's been enjoying holiday and birthday dinners at Pig Heaven for decades. My sons' youth lion dance troupe used to perform annually at Nancy Lee's old spot for the Chinese New Years celebrations she hosted. And we willingly followed to the location's current upper East Side spot on 3rd Avenue when they moved a few years ago. Imagine our surprise when we met for my father's birthday last week and learned that Nancy has retired.

I guess the new owner came with a new chef and the food is different. Dumplings and sesame chicken are fantastic but mapo dofu was not tasty. Shrimp in lobster sauce was lackluster and shrimp were overcooked. We're sure going to miss Nancy Lee.
