Equinox, Blue Duck Tavern, Corduroy or something else?

Frederictonian | Nov 13, 2010 02:26 PM

I'm visiting Washington DC between Christmas and New Year's and will be celebrating my partner's birthday during that time. I'm looking for a restaurant recommendation. i have been to DC quite a few times before and haven't ever had any remarkable food, but then I haven't really gone looking.
I have been doing some research, and have been considering Equinox since it appears to be very near our hotel, and because it appears to feature local, seasonal ingredients (our favourite thing in a restaurant). The Washington Post recommends Corduroy, also nearby, but I am willing to travel a few Metro Stops if need be (or to Georgetown, if it's worthwhile). The Blue Duck Tavern isn't so conveniently located, but it is highly ranked on TripAdvisor. I also notice that lots of places recommend Komi, but that seems a bit out of our price range. So any recommendations in the general region of the McPherson Square Metro, or another nearby metro stop, or in Georgetown, for good food that's less expensive than Komi but still creative and delicious in a nice atmosphere (and open between Christmas and New Year's)?
