Entertaining a diet-challenging group

bblonde | Jul 11, 201711:52 AM     10

I am probably overly frustrated but I was just informed that of my mahjong group of 4, two are on nearly polar opposites. One began a strict kosher way of eating so that she eats only vegetarian when not in her own kosher kitchen. That's very doable and understandable. But another friend just informed me she's started whole30.

I'm pretty frustrated! I had intended on cooking several meat-free dishes out of the COTM (Deep Run Roots) and maybe a grilled meat for us non-vegetarians. But the whole30 doer cannot have any grains, legumes, dairy. These two diets seem to be pretty polar opposite. I know they said not to make foods just for them, but tbh if I don't, each person will end up only being able to eat the dish they bring. That is not how I envisioned our evening! Any ideas? Obviously not every dish has to satisfy both. Or just scratch and say "I'll make tea."
