Enstrom's Almond Toffee; Thx, Shortstop!

I know the holiday sweet splurges are over, but you might wannah think about this for Valentines Day (never too soon to plan your next meal!)

I met Shortstop at a Chow Social where she was shoving a handful of some rich, dense, sweet chocolate cake in my face, and directing me to "Try it!". Not a cake person, I nontheless tried (how dare I *not*!!), and it was indeed, the densest, fudgiest, best I had ever had....

Despite this, when she proferred her gift of a box of toffee to some of her comrades-du-chow the other night, I thought, "How good could it be?"

We opened it the other night as dessert to our NY deli feast, and it's only lasted this long because I took custody of the box...The toffee layer on this stuff is 1/2" thick. Not too brittle, easy to break into small pieces with your hands...The first ingredient in this stuff is AA creamery butter, that lends a wonderful crunch to the proceedings, with just enough salt to bring out a contrast with the thin, sweet layer of milk-chocolate, HEAVILY dusted with ground almonds, that coats it...This, in addition to the liberal almond chunks throughout...I didn't think I liked toffee, thank God this is almost gone!!!

Thank you, Shortstop! How does she find this stuff????

I think it was mail-ordered from www.enstrom.com
