I just got the coolest book out of the library, and I had to post about it here, because it's recipes from "our" greatest hits. New England Clam Shack Cookbook, by Brook Dojny. Campy, corny, full of tales and recipes..Rhode Island clam cakes (we know what they are), recipes from Essex Seafood,a chowder chapter, seafood stews, from the Portuguese to lobster,fish cakes from Farnhams, Crab Louis from Thurston's Lobster Pound...I could go on and on...It has write-ups about frying and cleaning, chapters with pictures about the houndliest (the Place, the Clam Box, Essex, Tip For Tops'n, Capt. frosty's...) Really, it's a loving album for a hound to drool over thru the long cold months of the off season...
