Employees Only Review

After a full day of studying for the GMATs my GF wanted to treat me to a great dinner. Knowing I've wanted to try Employees Only for a while she took me there. I have got to say the food was great and the drinks were incredible. For those of you who don't like the music at Otto this probably isn't the place for you. But for those that enjoy getting buzzed while listening to the Doors, the Beatles White Album or Wilco this is an absolutley terrific stop.

My favorite drink of the evening was the Pimm's Cup - a spicy blend with the cooling taste of cucumber, we also had the Bloody Mary, Ginger Smash, Pico Sour and Ruby Tuesday - all were marvelous. The one drink we didn't like was the Provencale, really just tasted too much like something I would have made in high school (strong with no point).

For food we had the cheese and Serbian Charcuterie platter, both were good but I prefer Otto's meat and cheeses. For dinner I had the rib eye which was phenominal. The rib eye was served on a wood butcher block and a cloth napkin placed on the table to collect any juices that fell off, it had a great amount of butter cooked on it and included 2 dipping sauces (blue cheese and dijon mustard). Surprisingly with how big a blue cheese fan I am, I enjoyed the meat with the dijon mustard much better. The meat was a great cut and tasted deliscious on it's own, had the perfect amount of grizzle/ fat on the outside was succulent and tasty. The gf had the Orecchiette with a pork ragu - really good pasta but lacked a certain spice, I vastly preferred my steak.

For dessert we shared the Flourless chocolate cake with a peanut brittle mousse. The mousse was the highlight of this piece, paired perfectly with the brittle, the cake was good but god have been slightly warmer and a little more moist.

Total bill, a hair under $200. Remember, that included alot of booze.

All in all I really had a fantastic time and if you enjoy some good classic rock while sipping on some amazing cocktails I highly recommend. If a loud scene isn't your thing then I'd probably look elsewhere.
