Empire Grill & Tap Room in Palo Alto

kat | Nov 27, 200501:22 AM

I went to the Empire Grill & Tap Room the previous weekend and ordered the crab cakes. I'm alwayss a little wary about ordering crab cakes because they are usually made with too much bread and are too soggy for my liking.

I was pleasantly surprised when they came out because there was more crab than bread! They were lightly crispy and they were accompanied with a nice red bell pepper sauce. I would definitely go back for the crab cakes unless someone steers me to even better ones! :)

Another great dish was the walnut, pears and bleu cheese salad that was mixed greens and tossed with a honey mustard dressing. It was a perfect balance of all the different things in the salad.

The restaurant itself is a small dining room, large bartop - most of the space is an outdoor patio -- might be too cold to visit now but great for the summer months.

We were headed to Gordon Biersch originally (across the street) but decided on ETR instead since it was less crowded and less noisy and it ended up being a success.
