After not eating here for about six months, we decided to give it another shot last night. All my previous meals here were good, not great -- poor execution or underseasoning were usually to blame.
But last night everything was wonderful! Service was great, and the food was superb.
For appetizers we enjoyed cockles and a tuna panzanella salad. The cockles were a *tad* bit salty, but both dishes were flavorful and very interesting.
For entrees we had the spaghetti and meatballs and the sundried tomato encrusted pan seared halibut with spinach. Both were great, but the halibut was incredible! Perfectly cooked, it was beautiful to look at, smelled heavenly, and had a wonderful contrast of textures with the crunchy, flavoruful crust and buttery, supple fish. Also, the portions for both dishes were very generous.
Dessert was also memorable - if you like "buckeye" candies, you'd love this. A chunky peanut butter bar coated with chocolate with a scoop of caramel ice cream and caramel. It sounds like a sugar bomb, but the saltiness of the peanut butter and crunchiness of the nuts saved the dish from being too cloying. I'm not huge peanut butter fan, and I'm no chocoholic, but this dessert was one of the best I've ever had.
Since this place hasn't been mentioned on this board in a while, I thought I'd remind those who live in the 'hood to keep it in mind next time you're hungry!
