Met a couple friends at Emily's on the Chelsea waterfront. I was pleasantly surprised...started with a great antipasto app -- overloaded with great fresh mozzarella, artichokes, prosciutto, etc and a fantastic bottle of Talus Chardonnay...light and crisp...not oakie or buttery like most Californian chardonnays (which I hate). They also had Conundrum on their small wine list -- which was a nice surpise. We split two entrees -- a chicken/broccoli/penne dish -- light, not much cheese, fresh, crisp broccoli -- and veal saltimbocca -- thin filets of veal, prosciutto, sliced mushrooms and a rich white wine/butter sauce. Both excellent. Ended the meal splitting a piece of tiramisu...about 4 inches tall, and the ladyfingers weren't drenched in syrup like I usually get. Perfect ending.
The prices were right on -- everything under 20...and the bottle of wine was 20. The service was friendly and very attentive...it's a new place (december 2004) that seems to want to make it work in a new up-and-coming area (or so they've been saying for years...). I'd definitely go back.
