Hi All ~
Recently drove past Emil's Swiss Pastry on Barry Avenue, between Federal and Barrington Ave. (off Santa Monica Blvd. in West Los Angeles); didn't have time to stop, but remembered the name and checked for it online. Came upon a website for the bakery (see link below), and discovered that, according to the website, it was voted as "One of the 10 Best Bakeries in the WORLD" .... in 1975, that is.
Given the shabby state of the plaza it's nestled in, I have to wonder if it's even one of the 10 best bakeries in West LA, let alone the world. All the same, I know that wondrous, dazzling gems can be hidden in the grungiest and grimiest of places (which this plaza isn't - it's just a bit rundown).. so perhaps this bakery is a local legend just waiting to be found.
Can anyone share an experience or two?
Many thanks in advance!
