Hey Chowhound community! I was lucky enough to score a reservation at Osteria Francescana in September. I am a huge foodie and would love to explore many more things in that area.

Normally I am not one to do a tour, but I see some of the food tours (for Parmesan cheese, Parma harm, balsamic vinegar, etc) look amazing. Can anyone recommend one of the better tours to me? Perhaps we don't need a tour and can do it ourselves? We will not have a car most likely, although renting a car is possible.

Also, looking for any restaurant or food suggestions in the area I simply cannot miss.

Will probably be spending a 5 days or so in the region. Not sure where I will be staying. Either in Bologna, or maybe split it up between Modena and Bologna.

Any suggestions? Graci in advance!
