Emergency: Meal to go with au gratin potatoes

Help! A new roommate moved in on Friday and since then it's been a non-stop feast at home. My old roommate has been cooking a lot (and well, he used to be a chef), the new one has been cooking (and well too) and I've really been enjoying eating but I need to share the love.

So, typically I can cook a decent meal, but my main courses (veal, steak and pork) have been done at least once each and I don't want to do an Italian meal.

One thing I can do very well are dauphinois/scalloped/au gratin potatoes and I'm pretty handy with vegetables, but I need some protein. There are only three of us and I don't want to have too many leftovers. Is it possible to get ham for three and, if not, what other meats can I do?

To further complicate things, I only have one oven (but a boy can dream, right?), so whatever it is will need to be done stove-top or at 400 degrees.
