The elusive Thomas Winery in Willamette Valley

rebelcontent | Nov 26, 201007:03 AM

My girlfriend and I are visiting Willamette Valley for the Thanksgiving holiday. We've got a solid list to visit: Beaux Freres, Trisaetum, Bergstrom, Shea and the Domaines (can't resist), and we're looking forward to visiting Ken Wright, which is only open two weekends each year this being one. However, from what I've read the Oregon pinot holy grail seems to be Thomas.

Does anyone know if any of the tasting rooms in Willamette or in Portland pour it or sell it? I've read that November is the time to buy it and I should write to John Thomas at his PO box, but I'm hoping I can find it somewhere. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

And if anyone has any favorite whites to try while here, particularly pinot gris, that would be appreciated as well.
