Family dinner for 8 at Elio's last night. Nice ambience and great food.
We had a reservation for 7 PM and arrived a few minutes early. We were asked to wait for the rest of our party before being seated. I can sort of understand this policy for a party of four but when the table for 8 is empty and ready why not let us sit and settle in instead of standing by the crowded and chilly entrance?
As I said, the food and ambience was excellent but for an upscale Italian restaurant the service was bush league. Drink orders got confused. Appetizer orders totally mixed up. Entrée order, the same. My S.O. ordered one type of fish and got another. When asked, the waiter quickly said: "We ran out." when it was obvious that they got mixed up.
Most of the family was from out of town and we had a great time and we all laughed it off but we totally expected a much more seamless experience at that price point.
