Eliminating Cooking Odors

Sam D. | Jan 13, 2006 11:17 PM

I saw this in a newsletter column today and thought I’d pass it on. I know there was a recent question here about eliminating the lingering smell after cooking fish.

"A bowl of white vinegar will absorb all kinds of household odors, even cigarette smoke. Placing one on the counter before you start to cook will go a long way in keeping the odors to a minimum so they don't permeate your apartment. As a routine measure, hide a bowl of vinegar in other places, like on top of cupboards, behind the couch or even on a bookshelf in a pretty vase or container."

The advice is from Mary Hunt, author of "Everyday Cheapskate's Greatest Tips: 500 Simple Strategies For Smart Living.”
