Looking for elegant sit-down restaurant

macaroon | Mar 20, 2003 11:27 AM

I'm in seach for a nice elegant restaurant which I can take my family for an upcoming special occassion and spend around $30 per person. Everyone in the family are adults so being child friendly isn't a concern.

The key thing thing I'm looking for is a restaurant which is not too stuffy but with a settling that promotes conversation (hence, Cheesecake Factory is a far cry since it's so hard to hear yourself think sometimes). Delicious food and service are a given.

Places that I thought of on top of my head were Mama Maria's (which I heard are enforcing table time limits now that they're so busy which isn't idea), Grill 23, or McCormick and Schmidt.

Any recommendations from you Chowhounders would be much appreciated!
