this place seems new, based on the facts that i always recall it being a chinese place with a very, very bad reputation and that they are using a cardboard box for a cash register. it's located on east berkeley st, closer to harrison ave than to washington st. 147 e berkely to be exact.
i opted for a carnitas quesadilla. pretty tasty, surprisingly lean swine and plenty of cheese. no salsa or other goodies. the guacamole had quantities of red onions that would be either fabulous or repellant, depending on your feelings about red onions in guacamole. the picante was a bland, timid entry, suitable, perhaps, for patients recovering from surgery.
the chicken and steak both received good reviews from my coworkers. the burritos look a lot more promising than the quesadilla and there will be a followup post once i confirm this. they also offer tamales, tortas and enchiladas. all in all, i am quite pleased they have decided to set up shop a block from my office.
