El Toro Bravo-Costa Mesa

Honeyman | Nov 16, 2004 09:26 AM

My wife is out of town so I invited a buddy over to watch the football game last night. I told him if he brings the Negra Modelo's, I'll provide the chow. Got the "El Special", which consists of 2 pounds of carnitas, 3 dozen corn tortillas, a bag of chips, a generous helping of onions and cilantro, salsa, and a six-pack of soda for $16.49. Added a 16 ounce rice and got out of there for $20. The carnitas are undescribably delicious! Despite two ravenous guys, I got a ton of leftovers. They also have carne asada, pollo, spicy goat (?!?), and other meats. A spectacular meal, and I even had the Eagles and spotted the 7.

This deli has been talked about before, but every time I go, I am amazed at the quality of food for the price. El Toro Bravo is in a strip mall on 19th Street, between Pomona and Placentia.
