El Salvadoran and Cucciddati in Carle Place, LI

I had a good lunch at Don Paco's. I ordered a Bandeja platter with ingredients listed only in Spanish on the specials menu. When they asked if I wouldn't rather have the Quesadilla, described in English, I figured I had made the right choice. It consisted of Casmiento (rice and beans) topped with two eggs and chorizo(I know it's more Mexican but it was a homemade style not the usual Meson Ole type), avocado, sweet plaintains, a hunk of white cheese and a tortilla. Very tasty and very filling.

I was full, but I could never be too full to walk across the street to Cardinali's Bakery and have some cucciddati and a cup of coffee. Cucciddati are Sicilian cookies filled with figs, nuts, orange rind, chocolate and spices usually made around Christmas time, but Cardinalli's has them year-round. I only wish I had bought some extra to take home, don't make the same mistake.
