This is a neighborhood joint that has menudo every day = the reason for my lunch time visit. Its on Sawtelle, one block north of Santa Monica and used to be the home of El Mexican Delicatessen for yeeeeears (21 years) the same lady made white menudo the stuff dreams are made of. This is Jalisco style, red and a bit too peppery, no hominy unless you ask but packed with well flavored tripe. Otherwise now a pretty large menu with excellent carnitas, horchata and homemade salsa that is first rate. Alejandro and his wife come from Oaxaca and have about half a dozen dishes from there - none tried by me. I just dive into the old fave, a bowl of the best (must be all that sake I had last night). Lunch menu too about 10 choices for $4.95 to $5.95. This lady next door was eating a jumbo chimechanga (and took half of it home). Big portions, nice service, music, decor,
