El Portal in Pasadena

Ernie | Oct 7, 2004 02:31 PM

Growing up in the SGV, Pasadena has curiously never been a great place for Mexican food (the lamented Merida excepted and a few random taco stands north of the 210). Well last night I tried El Portal, a nice little place off Green Street near Maison Akira. They specialize in Yucatecan style so tried their cochinita pibil. Turned out to be a great choice. Very good and flavorful with a nice citrus and achiote tang amd served with black beans and arroz. Their margaritas looked great too. Very reasonably priced.
