El Jarro - Sunnyside

tracyk | Feb 11, 2005 09:13 AM

Don't know if you all are aware, but there have been some minor changes at our fave neighborhood Mexi.

They are trying to attract a more diverse clientele (or maybe just more clientele!) and will be offering various different "specials" and "menus" in the future. The first is a Valentine's (a la carte) menu, which runs this Saturday - Monday.

I am going from memory, but they are offering:
Oysters on the half shell
Seafood soup
Salmon something or other
Beet salad w/goat cheese

Prices were still very reasonable (oysters were M/P).

I know these aren't traditionally the type of things you go to El Jarro for (though their ceviche is really good), but I recently had them cater a birthday party and owner Ramiro whipped up a couple off-menu items (cubano type sandwich and smoked tuna/capers/bruschetta type thing) that were amazing.

On a side note, Ramiro is also opening an Asian/fusion restaurant in Manhattan. Forget the details, but I think he said it would open in Spring and is called "Chive"?
