Our guilty pleasure of frequenting "El Coyote" (a.k.a. "The El") is now out in the open.
Yep, the boys who dine at Urasawa (once anyway), tasting menus at Spago, dinners at Jar, Jiraffe, etc. etc., admit their guilty pleasure of not letting 10 days pass before hanging at "The El". We've been doing this for over 20 years, and while we are not usually into broadasting our love affair with this establishment, tonight we were bolstered by some bonifide "star power" sitting at the table right next to us. No I'm not talking about something as mundane as actors or singers- - -we're talking "Chef" star power! Immediately I recognized the shock of thick silvery hair and the very French accent. I say to spousal unit "I'm sure that Alain Giraud is at the next table". Spousal unit almost spills his margarita while laughing, and tells me that I'm nuts. I ask our waiter to validate me by checking out the signiature of his bill upon leaving. Waiter comes back and says "yes", that's who it was. He then goes on to ask "Who is Alain Giraud?" Spousal unit and I giggle, sip drinks, continue our evening, and can't wait to "Chowhound" upon arriving home.
Waiter goes on to say that he has served Giraud SEVERAL times!!!
