El Cid/Oakhurst

We decided to take a drive to Oakhurst this weekend in our new SUV. I always enjoy the drive there and find Oakhurst to be such a charming little mountain community.

I wanted to try Three Sisters for lunch, but they were closed. I peeked in the window and the place looks very nice, clean and intimate. Maybe next weekend! My next thought was a lunch at Ducey's Bar & Grill out on the patio since the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day. DH said NO, that I would not get in the car to leave once we were there. (This was a short trip and lots of things to do back at home type thing!)

We ended up at El Cid for a nice Mexican lunch. We always like to eat out on their small enclosed deck in the back. I had a a non-alcoholic Strawberry margeurita that was very good. Lots of fresh chips and salsa and water glasses always full.

They have a very varied menu here, I ordred the shrimp enchilada that was very good served with the sides of rice and beans. The foods tastes very fresh and there is PLENTY of it! DH had a burrito that looked very good full of steak, peppers and onions that he said was very good.

This is an excellent choice if you're craving Mexican food while in Oakhurst. For dessert we stopped at a small candy shop in Oakhurst for some Hazelnut truffles.

We knocked on the door at the Elderberry House and the wine tasting does not start until next Sun. We hope to try some local wines and see what Chris has going. We'll be back in the area in a couple of weeks for the Cirque des Amis at Chukchansi Gold and then back again for Valentine's Day for dinner at Ducey's and a stay in the spa suite at the Pines Resort.

Lots of wonderful choices to dine in this area. ***kim***
