El Charrito Caminante

BST | Apr 30, 2003 04:26 PM

Just wanted to give some well-deserved props to this place in Arlington. It's been mentioned a few times on this site but I gotta give it another mention, maybe 'cause I was just there today and it was excellent. Located in Arlington on Washington Blvd. just south of Pershing. As anyone from out West knows, the Mexican food situation in the DC area is pretty pathetic. El Charrito is a combo Mexican/Salvadorean take-out place and the food is one of the best values in the DC area. Everything is made-to-order and extremely fresh. The burrito supreme (made with your choice of meats: beef, chicken, tongue, chorizo and even goat) is absolutely delicious and costs 4 dollars. It is large and it even has fresh avocado, cilantro, green onion in it. I have a huge appetite and this burrito fills me up. The tacos are great and I hear the steak sandwich is great too. Eating there makes me feel like I'm in Southern California again. Quality and flavor for this price is rare (I swear that I don't work for El Charrito though it sounds like I do). For value, portions, flavor, etc. I would rank this up there with Pho 75, El Pollo Rico, and even that Bahn Mi place in Eden Center that sells 6 sandwiches for $11.
