El Cerrito - Maggie's - Sweet Tea & Southern-style boiled peanuts

Picking up my organic, fair-trade, bird-friendly coffee today at Maggie's I noticed they were selling Southern-style boiled peanuts.

Maggie's husband, Jeff, is from the South. I have never had a boiled peanut in my life so if this is your craving, take that into consideration ... me - no experience ... Jeff - Southern born and raised.

They were GOOD! Very warm and only slightly soft. I could see how people could crave them. They gave me a free sample, so I'm sure samples are available if you ask. I just said 'I see you are selling boiled peantus' and they gave me a few to try.

They have had the sweet tea for a while, but given the addition of the boiled peanuts it seemed the time to try it.

Excellent ... and this is an area I do have some experience in having worked in Ft. Worth and Atlanta for a while. It is $1.

Maggies seems to be settling in under the new owners. The baked goods are 50/50. Half are from Lola's and the other half standard coffee shop stuff. Given the location, they have to cater to the mix of customers.

Maggie's is next to the BART stop and across the street from Trevino's.
