El Abanejo (CC/Mexican)

After spending multiple hours reading the form and making a list of restaurants to visit, we tried to go to Beacon. It was closed today so we headed to the next restaurant on my list named El Abanejo.

El Abanejo is a small, order at the counter, Mexican retaurant in Culver City (Inglewood, just south of Culver Blvd). The place had a long line and we waited about 20 minutes to get to the counter. Fortunately, there was a guitarist singing Mexican songs to distract us from the wait. The menu had all tradition items and we noticed that several people had the soup (garbonzo beans, chicken, in a red broth).

We ordered carne asada burrito ($6.50) as recommended by previous Chowhounds. The portions were large and the quality was average-to-good. All in all, it was fun to try a new restaurant. We will not be returning because the wait is a bit much and there wasn't anything distinguishing about the quality of the food.
