Eguna Basque -- New cafe on the block

Gary Soup | Dec 23, 2005 08:37 PM

North Beach, coffee house capital of North America for the past half-century (eat your heart out, Seattle), has yet another fetching place to chill out with a cuppa. Iluna Basque has spawned Eguna Basque next door (gives them something to do in the daytime, I guess). The menu is basic Continental, with paninis, croissants, quiches and even a Croque Monsieur to go with the coffees. Sweet crepes and even elaborate ice cream dishes are on the menu, too.

I had a generously "stuffed" ham and cheese croissant (really more of a "croissantwich") accompanied by a salade Nicoise for $5.00 and my macchiato was all of $1.50. Quiches are $3.50 and sweet crepes start at $2.00.

Decor is typical casual coffe house modern, with some stuffed chairs (even a day bed) and coffee tables to go with a few four-tops.

All this and free wi-fi too.
