Eggs egg-gain

rworange | Jan 13, 2008 12:37 PM

Seems like a while since there was a discussion about the best eggs.

The reason I'm mentioning it is I really liked the TomaTero Orangics eggs I bought Saturday at the Oakland Grand Lake farmers market. A dozen is $6 ($5 if you bring your own carton) and has all different colors and sizes.

They taste good too. I like the reusable egg carton idea. When the carton is opened it says "50 cent deposit for carton ... reuse, reuse, reuse".

Their lettuce is very nice too.

There was another egg vendor at that market. Any comments?

I found out the flower vendor at the El Cerrito market also sells eggs. It is $4.50 dz / $2.50 half dz. The shells are beautiful and unusually thick but I didn't think the eggs had much flavor. I was writing this off as a winter thing, but then I had those wonderful eggs from Toma Tero.

My fallback eggs have been Judy's Organic eggs from Grocery Outlet 18 for $1.99. When I have to buy from a market I prefer Uncle Eddies, but at that price they are fine for my purposes.

Who is your current favorite?
