My wife and I are big fans of Effendi, a casual Turkish restaurant, which specializes in 'home cooking.' It is located on 2nd Avenue, b/w E 54 and E 55. The owner is a somewhat notorious man named Orhan Yegen. He has a string of very diverse and successful Turkish restaurants to his credit.
Sadly, Effendi closed their doors about two weeks ago. My wife called one of Yegen's other restaurants, Divane, and Yegen picked up. He told my wife that he and his partners were squabbling (a common theme in Yegen restaurants). According to Yegen, the partners want to sell Effendi, but he would not 'do that to his customers.'
Does anyone have additional info?
