What Effects/Closings Post COVID for Restaurants & Bars

treb | May 12, 202008:24 AM     97

I was looking at a news clip of a restaurant that opened in Indiana yesterday. One third capacity allowed, tables with tape X ing on the tops (can't be used). Limited bar stools 6 feet apart. This establishment had 3 bar stools, that was it.

I'm not sure small establishments will be able to justify staying viable, for long, under these constraints. Fewer staff, servers etc, plus the added requirement of wearing masks, how the heck can you eat and drink with a mask on?

Recent closings in the Boston Area are troubling, with the latest being Morano Gelato. IMO, the best gelato in the area, gone. The owner is smart enough to know that it makes no sense to continue to rack up recurring operating expenses. Very sad.

Any other places that our CH community is aware of that have permanently closed or are on the verge of closing?

Please post.

This is most likely going to continue for quite some time, especially from what is coming out from state and local, especially Boston, govt officials.
